Content-based material about "Sorting of a Materials".

The content-based material I have developed is video tutorial to teach about ‘Sorting of Materials’ for class four. The main objectives of the materials are to write the characteristics of different materials and sort the materials based on their characteristics. To develop this materials, I used Camtasia as ICT tool because it is powerful video editing software which is ability to create unlimited videos and it is useful to record screen activity, PowerPoint slides and add imported media(Graphics, audio and video). Moreover Camtasia is good for video editing, easy to learn for the learners and it support tutorials and users can share their content at no cost. So I have made video tutorial to engage the learners in different sets of learning in order to bring development in cognition and to increase the visual identity as well as their listening skill.

Creation of Content-based Materials

Step1-To create this video tutorial as my content-based material, I decided to prepare PowerPoint slides about ‘Sorting of Materials’ using different shapes, pictures, animations, transition and used different font size of the text.

Step2- After completing preparing PowerPoint Presentation, I opened the slides of PowerPoint on the desktop, minimize it and then I opened the Camtasia studio 8.2 version, clicked on the record screen option.

 Step3- Then I maximized my PowerPoint slides in the presentation form and started recording by clicking on the record button to explain about the topic.

Step4- After completing the recording of my explanation about the topic, I clicked on the STOP button and save and edit button in order to save my recording as well as to edit the recording that I have recorded.

Step5- Before producing my video tutorial, I edited my video tutorial about the Sorting of materials using the tools like cut, split, and transition to make my tutorials more interesting.

Step6-Lastly I saved my video tutorial from produce and share option by selecting the MP4 with video player up to 720p to convert my video in best graphic form.

How and when to use the materials?

The video tutorial as my content-based material will be use during the lesson introduction because what are the things should be cover in this video are clearly explain through the voice narration. This video tutorial is going to use during the lesson development because the video tutorial contains all the main concepts has to be cover during the particular period. All the information are clearly explain with voice narration by citing appropriate examples. Moreover, this materials will be use during lesson closure by recapitulating the concepts learnt during the lesson development by identifying or sorting the materials based on their characteristics mentioned in the table form in the video tutorial.

Activity instructions:

  •   In this activity, teacher will divide the students into five.
  •   In group let them to categories classroom objects based their characteristics.
  • After that, each group have to list the materials under their specific characteristics provided in the table.
  • To do this activity, each group will get ten minutes.

Content-based material about Graph for class I

The content-based material I have made created is concept map to teach about the ‘Graph’ for class I. the main objectives of the materials are identify the different types of graph, describe the characteristic of graph and create the different types of graph. To create this material, I used ‘Coggle.it’ app because through this app, I can able to focus on the idea of what to teach from this particular topic for the learners. Moreover through this app, the user can able to structure the thoughts organically around the central ideas and make complex things easier to understand by the students.  Additionally I can add and edit branches on the same diagram simultaneously and application automatically saves every change made.

Creation of content-based material

Step1-To create this material, firstly I open the web browser and login to www.coggle.it.com.

Step2-Then I clicked on the Sign up Now in order to get in to the app.

Step3- After that I clicked on the Sign Up with Google.

Step 4-Then I clicked Sign Up with my email address.

Step5- As soon as I get into the coggle.it app, I directly clicked on the Create Diagram and started making the material by typing the Tile as Graph, Types of graph and its explanation. Additionally, inserted pictures of different types of graph and used different colors (green, yellow, pink and purple) for types of graph to make the material more understandable.

Step6-After completing the creation of the material, I directly copy he link my materials in the form of concept map.

When and how to use?  

This content-based material will be going to use during the lesson introduction to introduce the lesson on the topic ‘Graph’. In order to introduce using this material, teacher will use the concept map to introduce the graph with its description. Moreover, this material will be use during the lesson development by showing the concept map to teach further more about the graph such as types of graph by showing definition of each types of graph with examples in the map because it will help teacher to connect their ideas of the topic and help students to understand the relationship between the types of graph. While teaching about the types of graph, teacher will first explain with definition and then teach using the picture through concept map as examples.

ü  Teacher will divide student into five groups.

ü  Then tutor will provide worksheet and cubes with different colors for each group.

ü  After that, let student to discuss in group and create the graph using cubes on the worksheet provided.

ü  To complete this activity, teacher will provide 10 minutes.

Content-based material about NOUN for class I

Content-based materials

This time I am here with the materials to teach class I. The subject I have chosen is English and the topic is “Noun”. The main objectives of the materials I have designed is to let students define the word noun and to identify the noun. I have used Microsoft PowerPoint and video as a tool to design the content based materials. I have converting PowerPoint into video because it appeal to all levels of learners and the learning style. Students can pause the video and take a break when required but in PowerPoint presentation there is no option for pause because it goes on and on and it will be exhausting and boring. Thus, video serve a multi- purposes and a great tool for effective learning.

I have downloaded relevant pictures from the internet in order to provide a better concept because children can retain the information for longer duration. I have inserted my voice in every slides because it will guide the students while watching and help them to identify and tell the name of the person, things, places and animals correctly. Moreover, I have used simple and different animations in order to arouse curiosity in children and avoid distractions.

Creation of content-based materials

To design the materials, I have chosen Microsoft Power Point as a ICT tool because it is easier for me to integrate and animate with the best use of ICT skills and using different kinds of shapes, animations mainly to cater the students’ concentration in learning in different ways. Moreover I used different pictures downloaded from the google and also used different shapes to make the materials more presentable to the learners. Most of the time I have used animations such as wipe, bounce and wheel and Arial Black as my text font to provide valid information. I have also used different shapes to create village scene, shape of table, pens and pencils in the form of simulation in my video lesson to engage the students in deep learning. Furthermore, I decided to put voice over in every slides thinking that my students will engage in different sets of learning (visual, auditory and kinesthetic). Then lastly my PowerPoint lesson was converted into video where the video lesson which is more reliable source of information for the students. Moreover video provides huge amounts of lesson in a short time and it is more engaging to the senses, so it can convey more information by showing and telling at the same time.

In order to check the understanding of the learners of the lesson taught using the materials developed, I have also designed learning activities to check how they have understood the information about the topic. To make the students clear about how to go about the activity, I have also given instruction to enhance the student’s understanding, boost their confidence and the ability to think critically about the topic. Moreover it also helps teacher to know how students have understood the lesson from the materials I have created.

When and how to use?

The materials I have created will be going to use during the lesson development to implementing the ideas of noun by showing video along with explanation in order to understand the main concept of the topic by the learners. The materials I have developed will be used during the learning activity and I have designed activity after the provision of information inputs where it will help the children to enhance understanding about the topic. Before the activity, once more I will let students to watch to video and then let them to do activity according to the instructions given. Therefore, as a teacher it is important to create conducive learning environment and to have conducive teaching and learning environment, it is important to use ICT integrated materials to enhance both teaching and learning.

ü  To do this activity, teacher will provide seven minutes
